About us

Karen Davies

Company Founder

With 35 years’ experience of working in graphic design and marketing, including 7 years as a Golf Club Manager, I really enjoy being creative and achieving positive results for my clients. I bring a wide breadth of skill, energy and enthusiasm to every project I undertake and look forward to each new challenge.

My career in graphics began in 1989 at Drury Patrick, a design partnership based in Sudbury, Suffolk. During this time I worked for a diverse range of clients including Greene King, Copella, Antec International, Stoke by Nayland Golf Club,
David Burr, Kings Seeds, Edward Baker Petfoods and Suffolk Herbs.

In 1997 I decided to take a leap of faith and work as a freelance graphic designer and formed Karen Rowe Design, which traded until 2009. This gave me the flexibility to work either directly with clients or via design agencies and marketing consultancies. Clients included: NFU Mutual - Ipswich, London Development Agency, Department of Trade and Industry, Essex County Council, McCormick & Co, The British Red Cross, Medicin Sans Frontiers, HelpAge International and Lepra.

My career took a sideways step in 2009 to follow my other passion - golf. I was employed as a Club Manager / Company Secretary, where I was able to bring a new element to the day-to-day running of the club, through my design and marketing skills, and the club went from strength to strength. Having worked at the golf club for 7 years during some very challenging times, following the financial crisis of 2007/8, I was ready to return to graphics and marketing.

K-Mac Design & Promotion was formed in April 2016, initially to provide a digital marketing and advertising service to golf clubs throughout the East Region. Based at Kersey Mill since 2017, K-Mac Design has expanded its client base as well as re-establishing previous working relationships from the good old days! We are very excited to be working with a wide range of clients once again.

Partner

I have over 30 years’ experience of working for Ford Motor Company and left full time employment in 2005, having worked for both Ford of Europe and Ford of Britain. During this time I worked in various departments gaining experience in a variety of roles.

This experience included knowledge of technical writing, time management, future model design improvement, product defect resolution, marketing, corporate fleet account management, the sales tender process and also organising corporate hospitality.  I have worked with and helped manage the aftersales side for large corporate fleets such as Royal Mail, BT, Northgate and a number of utility companies.

Since I left, I have carried out voluntary work for a charitable organisation, Essex Community Foundation. During this time, I also set up my own Trust with them to assist young people, by means of a grant, with their sporting careers and ambitions.

I especially enjoy meeting and working with clients and potential new businesses to discuss their needs, overcome their problems and provide our thoughts and experience to fulfil their aims and objectives.
